As of June 3, 2025, Tarentum Borough has demolished its 66th blighted property since 2019. This milestone reflects our continued commitment to aggressively addressing urban blight and establishes Tarentum as one of the most proactive communities in Allegheny County.

Blighted properties create serious problems. They lower property values, attract criminal activity, and pose safety risks. In response, Tarentum has made blight removal a top priority, using both Borough funds and grant support to drive progress.

Many residents have taken an active role in these efforts by participating in Allegheny County’s Vacant Property Program. By acquiring cleared lots, they have expanded their yards, planted gardens, and prepared sites for future homes. These formerly vacant properties are now returning to productive use and helping to grow our tax base.

Community involvement remains essential to our success. We encourage residents and business owners to report blighted properties and stay engaged in the process. Together, we are restoring neighborhoods, improving public safety, and building a stronger future for Tarentum.

We thank our Code Enforcement Officer, Borough Council, and Mayor for their leadership and support. Tarentum remains fully committed to creating healthier, safer, and more vibrant neighborhoods for everyone who calls our community home.
