Our Mission
Tarentum Public Power
Redcat Power
Tarentum Borough is one of thirty-five Pennsylvania Boroughs to own and operate its own electric distribution system. We strive to provide customers with a safe, reliable, and competitively priced service. By purchasing power wholesale directly from the market, our electric company is able to provide competitive rates while offering an additional economic benefit to the Borough and its residents.

Turning Power Back On
If your power has been shut off due to non-payment, Tarentum Borough will make every effort to reconnect it as soon as possible after a payment is made. However, please be aware that it may take up to 24 hours for the service to be restored.
Electric Service Guidelines During Winter Months
We want to clarify that the Borough of Tarentum operates its electric system independently and does not fall under the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) guidelines.
Under the Borough Code, we are prohibited from shutting off electric service when the temperature is below 32 degrees if the power is currently on. However, if electric service has already been disconnected for several days due to non-payment, the Borough is not obligated to restore service unless the outstanding arrears are paid in full.

Our System
Tarentum Borough is one of thirty-five Pennsylvania Boroughs to own and operate its own electric distribution system. The Borough serves as the Electrical Distributor Service (EDS) for all electricity customers within its municipal boundaries.
Sometimes referred to as Redcat Power, the department distributes power via numerous West Penn Power primary feeds located at the Borough boundaries. The Borough purchases its current electric supply from PSE&G and contracts electrical system work to Schultheis Electric Co., based out of Latrobe, Pa.
