ELECTRIC SERVICE UPDATE (2021.11.29): On Sunday, November 28, during the early morning hours, there were two (2) separate power outages in Tarentum Borough.
On or about 1:20 a.m. we received reports of an outage in West Tarentum. A telephone pole was reportedly on fire, knocking out power to a primary electric line and the West Tarentum electric grid. Tarentum electric crews were dispatched to conduct repair work and activate power generators at traffic light intersections. Power was restored just over an hour later at roughly 2:40 a.m.
A second outage then occurred around 6:55 a.m. on the lower east side of Tarentum. This outage occurred on the West Penn Power side of the electric grid in either the Brackenridge or Natrona area. West Penn Power crews reported that power was restored by 11:30 a.m.
This second outage was due to external matters in the West Penn Power service territory. Tarentum electric crews were not responsible for this restoration. As we have mentioned in the past, unfortunately outages and disruptions on the West Penn Power grid can cause service related issues to our customers. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope this electric update summary provides clarification regarding the two outages. Thank you.
