All trash must be in a Waste Management trash can or it will not be picked up.

Collections

Items eligible for collection include all garbage, refuse, and rubbish normally found around the household.

All appliances formerly containing freon must have an attached certificate indicating proper freon removal to be eligible for collection.

Collection and removal of solid waste shall occur weekly between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

Bulk Items and overflow Material

WM will only collect material that fits inside your trash cart. All trash must be bagged and fit inside the provided cart.

WM will collect one bulk item once per month during the 2nd full week of the month at no additional charge. Place your bulk item at the curb on the same day as your trash collection during your bulk collection week. Residents are permitted one bulk item per month at no additional charge. Additional items can be arranged for pickup for a fee by calling WM.

See the calendar to the right for your 2024 bulk collection weeks.

What is a bulk item?

A bulk item is an appliance, piece of furniture, or some other residential item that is too large for a container. Construction debris and hazardous waste are not permitted as bulk items. WM asks that residents call (800) 451-3060 in advance to schedule collection of a white-goods appliance.

E-Waste and Hazardous Waste (HHW)

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) and E-Waste will be collected via on-call, door-to-door service. Residents should contact Waste Management at 1-800-449-7587 to schedule the collection of any HHW or E-Waste item.

HHW and E-Waste includes garden chemicals, thermometers, solvents, batteries, auto batteries, paint, metal polish, aerosols, pool chemicals, cleaners, adhesives, antifreeze, used motor oil, fluorescent bulbs, televisions, computer monitors, and consumer electronics with circuit boards.

Residents can contact Waste Management between 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday to schedule a pickup. Waste Management will provide a containment device (box or bag) at least seven (7) days in advance of the scheduled collection. Residents may fill the device with the HHW item. Acceptable HHW must be collected from the resident’s property and not from the public property including the curb.

See the flyer here for additional information.

Recycling

Currently the Borough does not have a recycling program. While we wish to promote a greener community through recycling efforts, we are unable to sustain the costs of door-to-door recycling collections.

In recent years, the Borough attempted to provide community wide recycling containers to allow residents the ability to recycle within the Borough. Unfortunately, individuals were using the containers to dispose of regular waste, hazardous waste and e-waste. Due to these disruptive actions and the burden placed on the recycling program, the Borough has removed the various containers from the community.

Moving In/Out

Waste management is required to provide weekly residential refuse collection service. However, this requirement does not pertain to the removal of large volumes of household items when a resident moves in or out of their home.

Prohibited Items

The amount of curbside pick up is no longer unlimited and the following items are prohibited:

  • No remodeling or construction material over 2 cubic yards
  • No tires
  • No paving material, cement, asphalt, brick or stones
  • No broken concrete or concrete wash tubs
  • No ceiling tiles, paneling or plaster
  • No ceramic tile or marble
  • No automobile parts
  • No liquid paint, flammable liquids, metal drums or metal grease drums
  • No antifreeze
  • No ammunition
