Tarentum is proud to be the only Borough in Allegheny County that operates both an electric and water utility system; a rare responsibility we take seriously.
This past week, our electric system performed exceptionally well thanks to proactive planning and upgrades. Unfortunately, our water system, which is significantly older, continues to present challenges. A recent notice will be sent to all water customers regarding a non-emergency violation related to TTHMs (a water treatment byproduct).
We want to reassure residents:
- The water remains safe to use and drink
- The Borough identified this issue months ago and began planning corrective actions
- We are currently waiting on DEP permits and parts to complete the solution
