Mr. Walter Pacek, 523 Roup Street, concerns with road paving in the area of 523 to 527 Roup Street. Indicated that the road was paved several years ago but the water is not draining from this area. It is pooling on the roadway. Provided pictures of the concern. Ms. Kelley Hynes, 414 W 7th Avenue, informed council that she purchased her home in October 2017. Indicated that she is concerned with the three (3) vacant lots next to her property. Two of the properties are privately owned. The last property is owned by the Borough. Concerned with sidewalks on W 7th Avenue toward Grantham Street. Mr. John Goral, 425 W 8th Avenue, expressed concerns about the vacant property registration ordinance and indicated that he would be satisfied if his school taxes were reduced, asked the manager whether he is a practicing attorney, expressed that recreation items are being distributed through CodeRED system but not notice of council meetings, questioned why we are paving over broken water lines instead of repairing the lines before paving projects begin, expressed that the vacant property tax coupled with Highlands School District tax increase of 3.5% makes no sense, expressed that the Borough used to maintain vacant lots when there were 30-35 properties on the list, asked the police department if they can patrol W 8th Avenue more often, and questioned why there are no African-Americans are working in the Police Department or water department. Ms. Gina Landa, 512 E. 6th Avenue, asked whether there are energy audits available from the electric department similar to what First Energy offers. Ms. Iola Simon, 109 Corbett Street, asked whether the Borough has completed a rate and cost analysis for the water department. |
