Tarentum Borough’s Code Enforcement Department works to protect public health, safety, property values, and the community’s overall quality of life. Code Enforcement responds to complaints, conducts inspections, and addresses violations involving property maintenance, unsafe structures, rubbish, overgrown vegetation, zoning, and other Borough requirements.
When a violation is identified, the property owner or responsible occupant is generally given notice and time to correct the issue. If it is not corrected, the Borough may issue tickets, citations, fines, or take other enforcement action. Immediate safety hazards may require faster action.
Code Enforcement cannot resolve private disputes, determine property lines, provide legal advice, or require work not authorized by law. The Borough must follow proper legal procedures, and some cases may take time to resolve.

Code and property violations can be reported to the Code Officer by clicking the ” Submit a Concern ” icon below. Concerns may include items such as:
- High grass and weeds
- Storing or accumulating rubbish, garbage, junk or litter
- Dilapidated and dangerous property conditions
- Storing or abandoning hazardous materials
- Junk vehicles on or around a property
Code Office Monthly Reports
Monthly reports for the code office are presented at each monthly public meeting. The report contains brief statistics on the number of notices, violations and citations issued by the department. Please note, not all investigations, inquiries and responses by the department are listed on this monthly report. This report only contains the physical notices and citations issued.
