The Borough of Tarentum owns and operates a municipal electric system serving residents and businesses within the Borough. Electric service is governed by Borough ordinances, adopted utility rules and regulations, approved rate schedules, and applicable electrical standards.

This page provides access to the Borough’s current electric rules, including service requirements, billing and payment procedures, meter and customer service policies, disconnection and reconnection rules, wiring requirements, and other regulations related to the safe and reliable operation of the Borough electric system.

All customer-owned electrical facilities, service installations, alterations, and wiring must comply with Borough requirements and the National Electrical Code (NEC), as adopted and amended by the Borough. Customers, contractors, electricians, and property owners should review these documents before applying for new service, changing an existing service, performing electrical work, or installing equipment that may affect the Borough electric system.

For questions about electric service, utility billing, meter access, service upgrades, or required approvals, please contact the Borough Office before beginning work.
