2024 Utility Pole Replacement Project

Project Duration: July 23 through mid-August

The Borough of Tarentum is pleased to announce an upcoming electric pole replacement project aimed at improving the health and reliability of our electric infrastructure. Over the course of this project, we will be replacing ten electric poles in various locations within the borough.

Important Details:

• Project Dates: July 23 to mid-August
• Scope: Replacement of 10 electric poles

Impact on Residents and Businesses:

• Road Closures: Expect road closures in specific areas during the project.
• Lane Restrictions: Some areas will experience lane restrictions to accommodate the work.
• Periodic Power Outages: There will be periodic power outages limited to the immediate vicinity of the poles being replaced.

Project Phases:

Each pole replacement will be done in several phases to ensure safety and efficiency. The phases are as follows:

1. Site Preparation: The area around the existing pole will be prepped, which includes clearing any obstructions and setting up necessary safety measures.
2. Pole Replacement: The old pole will be removed, and the new pole will be installed.
3. Power Reconnection: Power lines will be reconnected to the new pole, which may result in temporary power outages for surrounding areas.
4. Cleanup: The site will be cleaned up, and any temporary measures will be removed.

The Borough must complete these phases for each of the ten poles, which is why the project spans approximately 30 days, depending on weather conditions and equipment availability.

• Ross Street Pole Replacements: 1 pole at approximately 214 Ross

• • July 31: Lane restrictions on Ross Street; Parking lot on 4th Avenue will be closed.
  • July 30: Lane restrictions on 2nd Avenue and Ross Street.
  • July 31: Lane restrictions on Ross Street;
  • August 2: Road closure and lane restrictions on Ross Street.
  • August 20: Lane restrictions on Ross Street; no parking on both sides of the road; power outages for surrounding houses and businesses during pole setting and line reconnection
  • August 23: Overflow and cleanup.

• East 8^th Avenue Pole Replacements: 2 poles at approximately 554 and 608 East 8^th

• • August 5: Lane restrictions and no parking on E 8th Avenue from 550 to 620.
  • August 6: Lane restrictions and no parking on E 8th Avenue from 550 to 620.
  • August 7: Lane restrictions and no parking on E 8th Avenue from 550 to 620.
  • August 8: Lane restrictions and no parking on E 8th Avenue from 550 to 620;
  • August 13: Lane restrictions on Lock and East 9th; Power outages for surrounding houses and businesses during pole setting and reconnection of lines.
  • August 23: Overflow and cleanup.

• East 9^th Avenue Pole Replacements: 3 poles at approximately 202, 210, and 215 East 9^th

• • July 25: Road closure on 9th Avenue; Lane restrictions on Lock.
  • August 12: Lane restrictions on Lock and East 9th.
  • August 13: Lane restrictions on Lock and East 9th; Power outages for surrounding houses and businesses during pole setting and reconnection of lines.
  • August 14: Road closure on East 9th.
  • August 15: Partial road closure and lane restrictions on East 9th.
  • August 16: Partial road closure and lane restrictions on East 9th.
  • August 23: Overflow and cleanup.

• East 2^nd Avenue Pole Replacements: 2 poles at approximately 210 East 2^nd

• • July 23: Road Closure on 2nd and Plum Alley closed for pole replacement preparation.
  • July 24: Road closure around the 400 block of 2nd Avenue;
  • August 19: Road closure on Plum Alley; Lane restrictions on 2nd Avenue.
  • August 23: Overflow and cleanup.

• Corbet Street Pole Replacements: 1 pole at approximately 312 Corbet

• • July 24: Road closure at 4th and Corbet
  • July 29: Road closure on the 400 block of 4th Avenue
  • July 30: Road closure on part of 4th Avenue;
  • August 8: Lane restrictions on 4th Avenue.
  • August 9: Lane restrictions on 4th Avenue; Power outages for surrounding houses and businesses during pole setting and reconnection of lines.
  • August 23: Overflow and cleanup.

• East Street Pole Replacements: 1 pole at approximately 1301 East

• • July 23: Road Closure on East Street for tree trimming;
  • July 29: Road Closure on East Street;
  • August 1: Road Closure on East Street.
  • August 21: Road closure on East Street.
  • August 23: Overflow and cleanup.
